Volunteer Sessions

Conservation volunteering is a great way to get close to nature, keep fit and learn new skills!

Our volunteer sessions are held on the last Sunday of each month

Time:  10am - 12, meet at the notice board opposite the car park.

No experience required.  We will usually have tasks for all abilities.

Gloves & tools are provided.  Just dress for the weather with sturdy, waterproof footwear.

Age 15yrs and up

NEXT VOLUNTEER SESSION:  SUNDAY 25th AUGUST 2024

This month we will be monitoring the areas recently cleared of of Himalayan Balsam and removing any regrowth.

This attractive but invasive plant can

crowd out native woodland species and die back to leave bare soil, which is easily washed away by

winter storms.  Its one saving grace is that it is very shallow-rooted, which makes removal very easy - so no

digging is involved.  Please be aware that as we will be venturing off the paths, there will be uneven ground

and fallen trees to negotiate.  We will also be checking paths for encroaching brambles & nettles!

Do come and join us - or just give us a wave if you are passing!

YOUNG RANGER GROUP

For young people aged 13-18, the South Ayrshire Ranger Service provide a great opportunity to learn about

conservation and develop basic bushcraft skills.  Their sessions are held on the same date & time as ours.

Booking is essential - contact them on their Facebook page here
